Senior Accountant – Civil Construction
A.P. Croll & Son, Inc. is a fourth-generation family-owned construction company that has a legacy of quality, reliability, and innovation. We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to take ownership of financial operations and help drive stronger project visibility, cost control, and reporting.
This is a hands-on role with a path toward a Controller-level position as the company continues to grow. You’ll play a key role in supporting our day-to-day accounting functions while helping improve financial reporting and job cost visibility across our projects. You’ll work closely with leadership, project managers, and office staff to keep things accurate, organized, and running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes and maintain the general ledger
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and performance reports
- Manage and improve job costing, WIP reporting, and project financial tracking
- Partner with Project Managers to monitor budgets, costs, and profitability
- Oversee AP/AR processes, collections, and vendor payments
- Develop and maintain cash flow tracking and forecasting
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support leadership decisions
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes
- Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls
Education and Experience:
- 5–8+ years of accounting experience
- Construction or job-cost accounting experience strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems (Foundations preferred)
- Ability to work across office and field teams and communicate effectively
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles, account reconciliation techniques, and journal entry preparation
- Experience managing accounts payable/receivable processes and performing month-end closing activities.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining high accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
Salary is negotiable based on skill set and experience.
Hours - on site Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
