As we grow our residential construction footprint into Western Wisconsin, we're looking for an experienced construction leader to help establish that presence with the same commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and customer satisfaction that defines our Minnesota communities.
Overview:
- Reports To: Vice President of Construction
- Start Date: Immediate
- Location: Western Wisconsin, including but not limited to River Falls, Prescott, and New Richmond. JP Brooks reserves the right to change, add, or remove developments and communities as business needs evolve. Approximately 80% Wisconsin / 20% Minnesota. Regular travel within both states is required.
- Preferred Certification: Wisconsin Dwelling Contractor Qualifier Certification (DCQ) (highly preferred)
- Meeting Attendance: Required at our headquarters 1-2x per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Wisconsin Market Leader
- Serves as the senior construction leader across all Wisconsin communities and developments.
- Partners with the existing Wisconsin Construction Manager. Collaborating on quality standards, scheduling discipline, and trade relationships without displacing that Manager's existing role or reporting line.
- Acts as the key point of contact for company leadership on Wisconsin construction operations and market growth planning.
Development & Site Oversight
- Schedules each home start and construction process using Threadkore scheduling templates; updates schedules as required throughout construction.
- Coordinates and proactively manages all on-site construction activities for each home, in each community.
- Orders erosion control, dumpsters, temporary heat, portable toilets, street cleaning, and other trade needs for the community construction process.
- Manages movement of materials on the job; preps homes for carpet; maintains a clean and orderly work site.
- Manages the JP Brooks safety program and holds trades accountable for safe job practices; monitors erosion control and storm water management.
- Schedules all trade activities, orders inspections, and completes certificates of occupancy prior to closing.
- Reports field issues related to variances or trade specification issues to the main office purchasing team.
Customer & Warranty
- Meets with customers to conduct pre-drywall and pre-close orientations and all post-closing warranty service work; completes required paperwork.
- Orders repairs required by 30-day and 11-month warranty and oversees completion by trade contractors.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Manage, report, and facilitate land development activities in conjunction with JPB Land department management
- Interfaces with the VP of Land Development and VP of Construction on small utility and other related Land Development issues as they occur.
- Works with the drafting team on custom plan changes or options needed for approved customer requests.
Training & Trade Management
- Pursues contractor licensure education relevant to Wisconsin operations.
- Protects contractor and vendor relations.
- Communicates required standards to trades; documents conversations via Threadkore when items are not installed properly per scope.
- Confirms and approves individual manpower for trades.
- Assists in the search and acquisition of new trades and/or team members for the Wisconsin market.
Meetings
- Weekly construction meetings at company headquarters in Maple Grove MN.
- Vendor meetings as required.
Additional Responsibilities
- Implements recovery procedures when schedules slip.
- Plans and prepares for weather issues that may arise.
- Uses Threadkore and Gmail as a daily communication tool, providing up-to-date information.
- Follows through on procedures for change orders and VPOs.
- Implements procedures to minimize theft of materials.
- Creates and updates policies and procedures on an ongoing basis with the VP of Construction and/or Administrative Department, tailored to Wisconsin operations.

Qualifications/Experience

- Minimum 6+ years of construction experience.
- Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree in Construction or Engineering preferred.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Highly Preferred: Wisconsin Dwelling Contractor Qualifier.
- Requires experience with tools/equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints; general knowledge of building codes.
Physical
- Sitting, standing, and/or movement.
- Ability to carry, lift, push, pull, and otherwise move objects.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions — heat, rain, cold, etc.
