Job Summary
The Construction Runner / Field Assistant will play an important role in supporting our active remodeling projects and daily field operations. Responsibilities include visiting job sites, purchasing and delivering materials, communicating with project managers and field crews, documenting job-site progress, and helping identify and resolve minor field issues.
This position is ideal for someone who is hands-on, dependable, proactive, and comfortable working independently in an active construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Purchase construction materials, tools, equipment, and supplies as directed.
Follow company procedures and job-site safety requirements
- Pick up and deliver materials, tools, and supplies to active job sites.
- Visit job sites regularly to monitor progress and support daily operations.
- Coordinate and communicate with project managers, subcontractors, field crews, suppliers, and homeowners as needed.
- Provide daily progress reports, job-site photos, and updates for each assigned project.
- Check job sites to ensure crews have the necessary materials, tools, and equipment to complete their assigned tasks.
- Identify material shortages, minor job-site issues, and potential delays, and communicate them promptly to the project manager.
- Help maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
- Assist with demolition, installation, material handling, and general remodeling tasks when needed.
- Coordinate errands and deliveries between suppliers, warehouses, company facilities, and job sites.
- Proactively identify and assist with resolving minor job-site issues.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with team members, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
Required Qualifications
- Fluent in both English and Spanish.
- Valid California driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Reliable, punctual, responsible, and committed to work.
- Basic knowledge of residential construction, remodeling, tools, materials, and job-site safety.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities throughout the day.
- Comfortable working in active construction environments.
- Physically able to lift and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Must own basic construction tools.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and grow with the company.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in residential remodeling or construction.
- Experience with kitchens, bathrooms, drywall, painting, flooring, demolition, installation, or finish work.
- Familiarity with Bay Area construction suppliers, warehouses, and material purchasing.
- Knowledge of construction materials and proper material handling.
- Ability to recognize common job-site issues and communicate solutions proactively.
