Albertsons' Northern California Division has an opening for a Front End Operations Specialist.
The Front End Operations Specialist (also referred to as Assistant Customer Service Manager) provides positive and proactive leadership and instruction in Customer Service, Retail Integrity, and Operations. Responsible for enhancing the customer service experience, ensuring retail integrity, and achieving budget goals for labor, cash variation, check expense, and supplies across all stores. Oversee the implementation of customer service initiatives. Mentor, develop, and train Store Execution and Retail Integrity Managers to maintain operational excellence and maximize sales and profits. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applications in the front-end.
Responsibilities
- Promote a Service First, Second to None culture among Division staff and store associates.
- Direct and monitor store service performance using tools like Customer SAT and service shops.
- Create a customer service culture and environment.
- Provide coaching and training to improve store customer service performance.
- Establish clear objectives with accountability commitments.
- Direct special service operations events such as Service Challenge, area meetings, and Store of the Year.
- Communicate customer expectations and opportunities.
- Develop Division plans and metrics to exceed customer expectations.
- Measure Division performance against plans and metrics.
- Responsible for service content in the Division monthly newsletter.
- Serve as the communication interface between Boise Store Support and the Division.
- Participate in Division, Area, and store meetings, providing verbal and written communication to division and store personnel.
- Train and mentor staff.
- Plan and facilitate the ongoing development of Service Execution Managers, Retail Integrity Managers, Trainees, Store Service Operations Managers, Service Assistants, and Scan Coordinators.
- Implement and measure the Company’s Core Values through team building, solid training programs, and communication across all departments.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including cash management, retail integrity, and adherence to state and federal regulations.
- Oversee all advertisements ensuring promotional information is supported by the Host pricing system and POS Systems.
- Partner with Loss Prevention to address and resolve operational violations and investigations.
- Collaborate with Execution Operations Managers and Installation Services Teams to coordinate the installation of store systems equipment within the Division.
Qualifications
Education Level: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field and/or at least 5 years’ experience in retail store operations preferred.
Experience Level: Experience as a Store Director or Assistant Store Director is helpful
Skills and Experiences
- Financial acumen and analytical skills combined with attention to detail.
- Thorough knowledge of front-end work methods, fund handling, and scanning procedures.
- Understanding of company scanning and price maintenance support application systems and practices.
- Previous experience in retail store operations with a strong background in scan coordination procedures and methods, preferably with a Retail Scanning Company.
- Complete knowledge of front-end company policies and procedures.
- Ability to complete store bookkeeping duties.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with personnel at all levels.
- Proficiency in PC skills and desktop applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Analytical ability.
Travel Requirements: Frequent travel dependent upon geography
Physical Environment
- Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office or retail store environment.
- Store visits involve regular standing, walking, climbing stairs, and movement around machinery and hazardous equipment, as well as backstage receiving and production areas.
- Incumbent may sit for long periods at a desk or computer terminal.
- Use of calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment is required during the normal workday.
- Stopping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required to complete job duties.
Albertsons Companies' Northern California Division support office is located in Pleasanton, CA and supports the operations of 285 retail stores across northern California, northwestern Nevada, and Hawaii under the Safeway, Andronico’s, Vons, and Pak ‘n Save Foods banners.

Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications.
