Position Overview
This Project Manager III opportunity is suited to a technically strong professional with extensive capital project delivery experience in the oil, gas or petrochemical sector. The Project Manager III will lead multiple small to medium-sized projects within a refinery environment, with accountability for execution strategy, delivery oversight and stakeholder coordination.
This position offers the chance to work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, technical support and contractor teams while supporting high-impact site projects. The Project Manager III role is ideal for candidates who can combine engineering knowledge, project leadership and strong commercial judgement in a complex industrial setting.
Role Context
This role is based within the refining sector and supports capital project development and field implementation at a refinery site. The Project Manager III reports to a Regional Project Director and works across multidisciplinary teams involved in engineering, procurement, construction, operations and maintenance. The environment is technically demanding and focused on delivering multiple concurrent projects safely and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Define an appropriate execution strategy based on project size, complexity and risk.
- Develop cost estimates and construction schedules that are ambitious, practical and aligned to project delivery needs.
- Coordinate internal resources and external parties required for project development and implementation.
- Engage with operations, maintenance and technical support teams to confirm project operability during development.
- Manage engineering, procurement and construction activities delivered by contractors.
- Prepare and present project status updates to senior management.
- Work effectively across functions to secure the support needed to progress each project.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- 10 or more years of project experience in the oil, gas or petrochemical industry.
- 5 or more years of experience as a Project Manager with sole accountability for project delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects involving multidisciplinary teams and sub-projects.
- Willingness and ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
- Desirable: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
- Desirable: Strong team-building and interpersonal skills.
- Desirable: Experience negotiating contracts and settlements.
- Desirable: Field experience in project construction.
- Desirable: Experience working in engineering contractor offices.
- Desirable: Strong experience in project control.
