We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Line Cook to join our culinary team in a fast-paced, quality-driven kitchen environment. This role is part-time evening (3 to10), with the potential for more hours based on performance and hotel demand. The line cook is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring timely service, proper food handling, and strict adherence to sanitation and safety guidelines. The ideal candidate is able to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with the kitchen team to deliver an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Carefully and safely prepare food according to the direction of the Chef, ensuring proper portioning and appealing presentation.
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the restaurant staff to ensure food is delivered at the highest quality, and in a timely manner.
- Prepare food for service, including but not limited to chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, and handling proteins.
- Maintain food line stations, ensuring all required items are fully stocked during setup and throughout service.
- Check pars for each shift, pull appropriate product for prep, and communicate replenishment needs.
- Properly store food at the end of each shift using correct wrapping, labeling, dating, and rotation procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, equipment, and utensils in accordance with health regulations and hotel sanitation standards.
- Complete all assigned cleaning duties as directed by the Chef.
- Practice proper food safety and handling procedures at all times.
- Follow all hotel safety policies and ensure the safe use of kitchen equipment.
- Monitor and actively control food waste, loss, and usage.
- Assist with inventory stocking and organization as needed.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a quality-oriented culinary operation.
- Strong multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize, organize, and follow up.
- Working knowledge of kitchen equipment, including but not limited to ovens, grills, broilers, fryers, steam tables, mixers, slicers, knives, and related tools.
- Working knowledge of sanitation standards, food safety practices, and inventory control systems.
- Solid understanding of basic food-handling techniques, cooking methods, ingredients, and procedures.
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and organization.
- Ability to read, speak, and understand English to effectively communicate with kitchen staff and servers regarding guest food orders.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and guests.
- Ability to handle internal and external customer interactions with professionalism, tact, and diplomacy, including de-escalation and conflict resolution.
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment maintenance and proper care.
Physical & Scheduling Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move items consistent with kitchen operations.
- Must maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and name tag.
- Must comply with attendance policies and be available to work a regular schedule, including weekday evenings, weekends, and holidays.
