About the role
Vita Organica is a dietary supplement manufacturer producing gummies, capsules, powders, honey spoons, sachets, and pouches. We're looking for a hands-on Maintenance Mechanic to keep our production and packaging lines running reliably in a fast-growing facility. You'll own preventive maintenance, troubleshoot breakdowns quickly, and help commission new equipment as we scale.
What you'll do
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production and packaging equipment, including gummy depositors and cooling tunnels, capsule fillers, powder blenders, honey/spoon fillers, and vertical form-fill-seal (VFFS) sachet and pouch machines.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical/control faults to minimize line downtime.
- Support facility systems critical to production, including HVAC and dehumidification units (essential for gummy and honey rooms in the Louisiana climate).
- Execute PM schedules, log all work, and maintain accurate maintenance records in line with 21 CFR Part 111 cGMP requirements.
- Use food-grade lubricants and follow sanitary equipment handling to protect product integrity.
- Assist with installation, setup, and commissioning of new equipment during facility buildout and expansion.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area; follow all GMP, OSHA, and food-safety procedures.
- Support changeovers, minor fabrication, and spare-parts inventory management.
What we're looking for
- 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience, ideally in food, beverage or supplement manufacturing.
- Strong mechanical aptitude. Someone who can troubleshoot anything!
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and electrical/mechanical drawings.
- Forklift certification is a plus.
- Reliable, safety-focused, and comfortable in a hands-on, fast-paced plant.
Physical requirements
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work at heights on ladders or lifts.
- Comfortable working in varied temperature and humidity conditions across production rooms.
Schedule
- 4 days a week (10 hours/day at full capacity), with occasional overtime and on-call for critical breakdowns.
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
