Marine Technician Job Description
The Marine Technician at FLX Marine is responsible for contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Service Department and Shop while being dedicated to the objectives of our Mission Statement. The ongoing focus of the position is to provide the highest level of service, cleanliness and professionalism to customers, to provide unsurpassed support of other technicians and to ensure that our customers are able to enjoy their boats as a result of our Service Department.
- Maintains the highest standard for shop productivity daily
- Ensures that all staff keeps Shop clean and organized daily
- Meets with Service Manager daily to review workflow and schedule
- Ensures cleanliness of boats is maintained or improved by all technicians (booties, runners, covers, cleaning, etc.)
- Maintains clean workstation
- Maintains clean personal appearance
- Helps test customer boats to ensure repairs were performed correctly
- Follows manufacturer warranty policies and procedures
- Completes all work tasks assigned as safely and efficiently as possible
- Records all entries (via electronic tablet) for job assigned including parts, warranty parts, returns, etc.
- Provides accurate and detailed notes (via electronic tablet) to allow for effective communication with customers by Parts or Service Managers, Accountants and General Manager
- Submits suggestions for work improvements to Service Manager
- Strives to perform all services correctly the first time; completes repairs within the specified timeframe; keeps Service Manager informed of diagnoses, needed repairs and cost estimates
- Evaluates comebacks and works closely with technicians and Service Manager to ensure that comebacks are kept to the lowest possible ratio and are prioritized and corrected
- Communicates with customers as directed on technical issues as needed
- Assists Service Manager with training requirements and relationships with supplies and manufacturers
- Maintains service certifications and attends trainings as required and necessary to expand skills
- Performs other related duties as assigned
