Job Summary
PYC Manufacturing is looking for an experienced CNC Shop Floor Lead / Setup Machinist Supervisor to help manage daily production and support CNC setups on the shop floor.
This is a hands-on leadership position. We are looking for someone who can perform setups, support operators, solve production problems, and help keep jobs moving without every routine issue going directly to the owner.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support daily CNC shop floor production.
- Perform CNC setups on lathes and/or mills when needed.
- Help operators with setup issues, tooling, offsets, and production problems.
- Monitor job priorities, machine status, setup status, and delivery commitments.
- Make sure jobs are assigned to the correct machines.
- Make sure CNC programs, setup sheets, tooling, and job packets are ready before setup.
- Follow up with engineering/programming when a program or setup information is needed.
- Make sure no job goes to setup without proper documentation.
- Make sure no production continues without First Piece Approval.
- Coordinate with Quality, CMM, Engineering, Setup, and Operators.
- Make sure operators are performing in-process inspections as required.
- Help identify and control suspect parts.
- Track production problems, machine downtime, late jobs, tooling shortages, and quality issues.
- Help enforce company procedures, inspection forms, and job packet requirements.
- Train, support, and hold operators accountable.
- Provide daily production updates to management.
Requirements
- Strong CNC setup experience.
- Experience with CNC lathes and/or CNC mills.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand tolerances.
- Knowledge of first piece inspection and in-process inspection.
- Ability to troubleshoot machining, tooling, and setup problems.
- Ability to lead operators and keep production organized.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Must be hands-on and willing to help on the shop floor.
- Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred.
- ISO / AS9100 experience is a plus.
- Estimating, scheduling, or production planning experience is a plus.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a strong CNC setup machinist who can also lead people, organize daily production, follow up with programmers and quality, and keep the shop moving.
We are not looking for someone who only wants an office supervisor role. This position requires someone who is hands-on, organized, responsible, and comfortable holding people accountable.

Pay: $38.00 - $44.00 per hour
