Job Summary
We are seeking Maintenance Procedure Developers to develop, review, validate, and improve U.S. Coast Guard Maintenance Procedure Cards (MPCs). Direct Coast Guard MPC, Navy Maintenance Requirement Card (MRC), Planned Maintenance System (PMS), or equivalent controlled maintenance-procedure experience is strongly preferred.
Candidates should be familiar with naval or maritime maintenance and be able to translate Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) requirements, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) recommendations, drawings, and technical publications into safe, technically correct, executable procedures. This is not a general technical writing role.
Primary Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
· Develop, revise, review, and quality-control MPCs in accordance with Coast Guard PMS development requirements and customer direction.
· Convert approved RCM maintenance requirements and OEM recommendations into detailed preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.
· Identify required tools, test equipment, parts, consumables, expendables, personal protective equipment, warnings, cautions, prerequisites, acceptance criteria, and completion requirements.
· Research and reconcile technical manuals, engineering drawings, equipment specifications, supply data, technical publications, and other authoritative references.
· Review drawings and illustrations, incorporate field-generated maintenance feedback, and recommend technical publication updates.
· Participate in ship checks, technical reviews, fleet data calls, and procedure validation activities.
· Maintain configuration control and traceability between each MPC and its supporting source documentation.
Qualification Levels
Candidates may be hired as a Maintenance Procedure Developer or Senior Maintenance Procedure Developer based on directly relevant experience and ability to work independently.
Maintenance Procedure Developer
· Minimum three years of relevant experience in maintenance planning, maintenance analysis, maintenance procedure development, RCM, logistics support, engineering support, or related maintenance-management activities.
· Experience performing or supporting naval, Coast Guard, shipyard, or commercial maritime maintenance.
· Able to develop and revise MPCs with guidance from a qualified senior developer.
Senior Maintenance Procedure Developer
· Typically seven or more years of relevant naval or maritime maintenance experience, including substantial responsibility for maintenance-procedure development.
· Demonstrated ability to independently develop, review, validate, or approve Coast Guard MPCs, Navy MRCs, PMS procedures, or equivalent controlled maintenance documentation.
· Able to lead technical and quality-control reviews, resolve source-data conflicts, and guide other MPC developers.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Logistics Management, Maintenance Management, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
· U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
· Ability to interpret technical manuals, drawings, OEM documentation, maintenance standards, and supply information.
· Strong technical writing, editing, grammar, and quality-control skills in American English.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to work effectively with a geographically dispersed team.
Relevant military service, training, or operational experience counts directly toward the applicable experience requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
· Direct U.S. Coast Guard MPC development experience and knowledge of Coast Guard PMS development processes.
· U.S. Coast Guard MPC Development Training Course completed, or willingness to complete it within six months of hire while working under a qualified MPC Developer.
· RCM Level II training or equivalent reliability-maintenance experience.
· Experience with HM&E systems, marine electronics, technical publications, configuration management, maintenance planning, or Integrated Logistics Support.
· Working knowledge of Coast Guard logistics and maintenance systems, including Fleet Logistics System (FLS), Coast Guard Logistics Information Management System (CG-LIMS), Naval and Electronics Supply Support System (NESSS), Coast Guard Part Availability Research Tool (CGPart), and Defense Logistics Information Service (FEDLOG).
· Familiarity with MILSTD 3034.
