Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structural Welder to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for welding and fabricating structural steel components used in large-scale construction projects. Your expertise will ensure that all welds meet strict quality standards, safety protocols, and industry codes. Duties
- Interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to accurately produce structural components.
- Perform welding operations using various techniques including FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards and ASME codes.
- Measure and mark metal materials precisely using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Operate power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and machining equipment for cutting, shaping, and assembling metal parts.
- Fabricate structural steel elements such as beams, columns, ductwork, pipe threading, and sheet metal components with attention to safety protocols.
- Use mechanical blueprint interpretation skills to verify dimensions and specifications during the welding and assembly process.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety procedures and inspecting tools and equipment regularly.
Requirements
- Proven construction site experience with a strong understanding of metal fabrication processes.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and mechanical blueprints related to structural steel projects.
- Skilled in various welding techniques including FCAW, MIG welding, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding.
- Experience operating measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math calculations for precise fabrication.
- Knowledge of ASME codes & standards as well as AWS standards for welding quality assurance.
- Ability to operate power tools such as grinders, drills, plasma cutters, press brakes, and machining equipment safely.
- Mechanical knowledge of ductwork installation, pipe threading, soldering, plasma cutting, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Familiarity with construction site safety protocols and the use of hand tools in a fabrication environment.
- Strong mechanical fabrication skills with experience working in a fabrication shop setting preferred.
