Overview
The Underwriter 3 position is responsible for working with their Team Leader, other Underwriters, Data Consultants, Account Managers, Producers, and Clients in preparing requests for proposals, obtaining, and analyzing carrier quotes, inputting, and analyzing data from various automation systems, and maintaining a small book of business. It also works collaboratively with the underwriting and data teams to perform financial and data analysis of a client’s healthcare plans.

How you'll make an impact
Execute competitive bidding of all employee benefits coverage lines.- Prepare PowerPoints outlining financial and contractual analysis according to company policy.
- Review vendor proposals for accuracy.
- Collaborate with Data Consultants, Account Managers, and Producers to evaluate, determine, and recommend alternative coverages, pricing, options, and plan design changes based on analysis of available plan elements and on client/prospect goals.
- Produce deliverables timely, accurately, and in compliance with company standards.
- Provide deliverables for Self-Funded clients.
- Perform advanced level duties in our Actuarial Tool and Data Warehouse.
- Negotiate all lines of coverage with carrier partners.
- Present all forms of reporting and financial deliverables to our clients.
- Forecast and develop client budget projections.
- Maintain positive relationships with vendor representatives.
- Remain abreast of the health insurance environment and constantly changing insurance legislation.
- Respond to routine and non-routine correspondence.
- Work independently and within the team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects.
- Maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
About You
Required:
-
Bachelor's degree and 5 years experience with Broker or Carrier side with focus on Health and Benefits.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office.

High degree of understanding of employee benefits funding mechanisms.

Must be familiar with carrier reporting systems.

Strong employee benefits knowledge and/or math, economics, and finance background preferred.

Great communicator up, down, and across the organization

Excels in time management while working with various deadlines.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications – excel proficiency is a must.

Strong PC skills with the aptitude to learn new systems.
