JOB
This classification is a safety-sensitive position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations and/or the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act. As a safety-sensitive classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana certification will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.
GENERAL PURPOSE
The candidate will perform day to day landscaping, maintenance, restoration, and project work in the maintenance and operations of the City of Yukon’s parks, grounds, athletic fields, and other green spaces. The candidate will also perform duties related to the set-up and cleanup of Christmas lights, Christmas displays, and other Christmas decorations for Christmas in the Park. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cares for park and facility flowerbeds, trees, plants, and other green spaces
- Performs landscaping work throughout the park system
- Trims trees and waters sod, flowerbeds, trees, and other areas
- Performs minor semi-skilled maintenance such as painting, carpentry, and other semi-skilled trade work
- Plants sod, trees, shrubs, and flowers
- Picks up trash and maintains cleanliness of parks
- Carries out the seeding, fertilizing, aerating, topdressing, soil conditioning, watering, and the pest and weed control of the City’s parks and open spaces
- Operates various types of equipment including City vehicles, skid steer, mowers, weedeaters, trailers, etc.
- Mows and maintains parks and other areas such as athletics fields and facilities
- Helps with the setup and cleanup of Christmas lights, decorations, and displays for Christmas in the Park on a seasonal basis
- Performs project work to improve the amenities and the aesthetic appeal of the parks, fields, and other City property
- Works special events at City parks and facilities

- Primarily outdoors in all weather conditions
- Subject to continuous exposure to outside environment wherein there are disagreeable
working conditions some of the time
- Subject to frequent low-level to loud outside noise
- Subject to working irregular workdays during certain periods of time if needed
- Moving mechanical parts
- Heights between 10’ to 40’ high
- Works with chemicals
- Regularly lifts, pushes, or pulls equipment over 100 pounds as a team
- Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance vision, use of both
eyes, ability to distinguish basic colors and shapes; depth perception, peripheral vision,
and have the ability to adjust focus
- Walking, bending, stooping, crawling, working on your hands and knees
- Finger dexterity enough to operate equipment
- Speech and hearing enough to communicate clearly and distinctly in person and by
telephone
- Flexible enough to use hands and arms to grab, hold, reach, etc.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must possess a valid Oklahoma State Driver License
- Must pass post offer drug screen and post offer background tests, if 18 or older
