Full-Time Assistant Director / Assistant Principal
Montessori Reggio Academy is hiring a full-time Assistant Director / Assistant Principal to join our leadership team. This person will help oversee daily school operations, support staff and families, ensure compliance, and help maintain the high standards of care, education, and professionalism expected at MRA.
The ideal candidate must have at least 2 years of experience in a leadership role, experience working in a childcare center or early childhood/private school setting, and strong familiarity with Texas Minimum Standards guidelines.
Job Summary
We are seeking a professional, organized, and dedicated Assistant Director / Assistant Principal to support the daily operations of Montessori Reggio Academy. This role works closely with the leadership team to ensure classrooms, staff, students, and families are supported throughout the day.
The Assistant Director / Assistant Principal will help maintain a safe, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment while supporting school operations, staff accountability, parent communication, licensing compliance, enrollment, and overall campus success.
This is a leadership role that requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, follow-through, and the ability to lead by example.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with overseeing daily campus operations and ensuring the school runs smoothly.
- Support the leadership team with staff supervision, classroom coverage, scheduling, and daily needs.
- Ensure all classrooms are operating in compliance with Texas Minimum Standards and school policies.
- Monitor classroom ratios, supervision, safety procedures, and name-to-face counts.
- Support teachers with classroom management, parent communication, and professional expectations.
- Help maintain a warm, professional, and welcoming environment for students, families, staff, and visitors.
- Assist with parent tours, enrollment support, and prospective family communication.
- Help ensure staff follow school policies, procedures, schedules, and assigned responsibilities.
- Conduct classroom walk-throughs and provide feedback, coaching, and support as needed.
- Assist with licensing documentation, classroom binders, staff files, inspections, and compliance readiness.
- Support curriculum implementation, lesson plan expectations, and classroom quality.
- Help manage parent concerns professionally and promptly.
- Assist with staff training, onboarding, mentoring, and performance support.
- Help coordinate school events, family engagement, and campus communication.
- Partner with leadership to identify areas for improvement and help implement solutions.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership, management, or supervisory role.
- Experience working in a childcare center, preschool, Montessori school, private school, or early childhood education setting.
- Familiarity with Texas Minimum Standards and childcare licensing requirements.
- Strong understanding of classroom ratios, safety, supervision, and compliance expectations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead, coach, and support staff in a professional manner.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced school environment.
- Professional appearance, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
- Ability to build strong relationships with staff, students, and families.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as an Assistant Director, Assistant Principal, Lead Teacher, Curriculum Coordinator, or childcare leadership team member.
- Montessori, Reggio Emilia, or private school experience.
- Experience with parent tours, enrollment, staff scheduling, and licensing inspections.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of Brightwheel or childcare management systems.
