Join our dynamic neurology team as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) specializing in neurological care! Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments focusing on neurological status, vital signs, and physical examinations to inform care plans.
- Administer medications, including IV infusions and injections, following strict protocols and ensuring patient safety.
- Assist with specialized procedures such as catheterization, tube feeding, and sterile technique applications.
- Monitor patients’ neurological responses and manage acute pain or emergent symptoms with appropriate interventions.
- Document all patient interactions accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care for patients with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or other neurodegenerative conditions.
- Support discharge planning and provide education on medication management, safety precautions, and ongoing care needs for patients with complex neurological conditions.
Qualifications
- Valid LPN license in good standing; additional certification in IV therapy or infusion preferred.
- Critical care experience or hospital medicine background highly desirable; experience working in neurology or neurocritical settings is a plus.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding is advantageous.
- Demonstrated knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to neurology and geriatrics.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia enhances your ability to deliver personalized care.
- Strong communication skills for effective caregiver and patient education; ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and adhering to infection control protocols in all clinical activities.
