This PCU travel nursing role requires clinical expertise in high-acuity inpatient care. The assignment includes floating to ICU and all inpatient units as needed. The RN will work EPIC for documentation and participate in unit rounds, with orientation and credentialing support provided.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to PCU patients in a high-acuity, multi-discipline environment, including monitoring, assessments, and timely escalation of changes in patient status.
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders; manage advanced therapies as indicated (CRRT and BiPAP as appropriate); draw labs and monitor lab results; care for chest tubes and PICC lines as applicable.
- Perform and document nursing interventions in EPIC; participate in rounds, care coordination, and handoffs; communicate clearly with physicians, case managers, and families.
- Respond to codes and emergencies; conduct own codes when required and provide patient care and stabilization as part of the care team.
- Float to ICU and other inpatient units (Med/Surg, Med/Tele, Acute/Tele, and ED) with prior experience to maintain patient safety and care continuity.
- Maintain competency in open-heart care scenarios (day 1 with pacer wires) and initial post-op monitoring within PCU or related units as oriented.
Requirements
- Licensure: Active KS RN license or Compact RN license
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHF (as noted in the job requirements)
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care/Intensive Care Unit experience; must have experience with CRRT, BiPAP, drawing own labs, chest tubes, and PICC lines; no vascular access team; ability to call own consults; comfortable conducting own codes; open-heart day 1 experience with pacer wires
- Floating: Ability to float to ICU and all inpatient units
- Education: Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program
- EMR: Proficiency with or prior experience in EPIC preferred
- Scheduling: Available for 3x12-hour night shifts per week
