POSITION SUMMARY
The Warehouse Assistant supports the daily operations of the warehouse by receiving, organizing, preparing, loading, and distributing materials and equipment needed for residential and commercial installation and service operations. This position helps ensure installers and service technicians have the correct materials, parts, hardware, and equipment needed to complete their work efficiently and accurately.
The Warehouse Assistant is responsible for maintaining an organized and safe warehouse environment, assisting with inventory control, preparing material loads, documenting materials being issued, and ensuring materials are handled and stored properly.
Previous warehouse experience is preferred but not required. Forklift experience is a plus, but training will be provided. The successful candidate must have mechanical aptitude, be dependable, physically capable of handling heavy materials, and demonstrate a willingness to learn.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Warehouse Operations
- Assist with the day-to-day operation and organization of the warehouse.
- Receive, unload, inspect, and properly store incoming materials, parts, hardware, and equipment.
- Organize inventory so materials can be easily located and accessed.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas throughout the warehouse.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks, trailers, and company vehicles.
- Move materials throughout the warehouse using appropriate equipment and safe handling practices.
- Assist with maintaining accurate inventory levels and identifying shortages, damaged materials, or discrepancies.
- Help ensure materials are stored in designated locations and properly protected from damage.
Installer and Technician Support
- Pull and prepare materials, parts, hardware, and equipment for scheduled installation and service work.
- Prepare loads for installers and technicians based on job requirements and work orders.
- Verify that loads contain the appropriate materials before they leave the warehouse.
- Properly document materials included in loads and other materials issued to field employees.
- Assist installers and service technicians with obtaining additional parts or materials needed throughout the workday.
- Communicate with warehouse leadership and field personnel regarding missing, damaged, or incorrect materials.
- Assist with returning unused materials, parts, and equipment to the appropriate warehouse locations.
- Help maintain an accurate record of materials coming into and leaving the warehouse.
Inventory Control
- Assist with regular inventory counts and cycle counts.
- Identify inventory discrepancies and report them to the appropriate supervisor.
- Help monitor frequently used parts, hardware, and materials to prevent shortages.
- Ensure materials are properly labeled, organized, and stored.
- Assist with tracking materials issued to field employees and returned to the warehouse.
- Handle company materials and equipment responsibly and report suspected loss, damage, or discrepancies.
Equipment and Safety
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, and other warehouse equipment as trained and authorized.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Use proper lifting and material-handling techniques.
- Wear required personal protective equipment.
- Maintain awareness of vehicle, equipment, and pedestrian traffic within the warehouse and yard.
- Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or workplace hazards to management.
- Follow proper procedures when handling heavy, oversized, or awkward materials.
Other Responsibilities
- Assist with general warehouse and yard maintenance.
- Help maintain organization of company vehicles, trailers, equipment, and storage areas as assigned.
- Assist other warehouse team members as needed.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 125 pounds.
- Ability to work in a warehouse and outdoor environment and tolerate varying temperatures.
- Ability to safely operate or learn to operate warehouse equipment.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
Preferred
- Previous warehouse, construction, manufacturing, or material-handling experience.
- Forklift experience or certification.
- Experience working with inventory systems or warehouse management systems.
- Experience handling building materials, garage doors, hardware, or related products.
- Basic mechanical knowledge.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. The employee must be able to safely handle materials weighing up to 125 pounds, with or without assistance or appropriate material-handling equipment.
The position may require working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Employees must be able to safely perform the physical requirements of the position while following all applicable safety procedures.

The Warehouse Assistant is expected to:
