EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position supports transportation projects by inspecting construction materials at production plants and verifying compliance with standards and quality control plans. Through your work you will help to ensure that the materials used in road and bridge projects are safe, accurate, and ready for construction. As a Transportation Construction Inspector, you will perform the following duties:
Material Testing: Verify accuracy of tests performed on asphalt, concrete, and aggregate materials using approved methods-
Quality Oversight: Observe technicians at material plants to ensure proper testing, documentation, and production practices

Problem Identification: Document sampling procedures, identify issues, and report concerns to supervisors

Compliance Review: Check material suppliers for adherence to quality control plans and maintain accurate records

System Entry: Enter test results, reports, and documentation into electronic construction management systems

Equipment Verification: Confirm calibration of equipment such as scales, testing devices, and plant machinery

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,907.00 (before taxes).
