Job Overview
We are looking for an assistant preschool teacher who loves the outdoors. We are a nature preschool that follows many forest school principles and spends the majority of our time in the woods. We serve children ages 3-5 in a mixed-age classroom.
Expectations
- Help develop and implement emergent (child-led) curriculum and activities
- Provide a variety of learning experiences that promote cognitive, social emotional, spiritual, and physical development.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Manage classroom behavior and promote positive discipline techniques
- Assess and monitor each child's progress and provide feedback to parents/guardians
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a cohesive learning environment
- Utilize effective communication skills to interact with children, parents/guardians, and colleagues
Requirements:
-Fingerprinting, First aid/CPR, and 45 DCF hour training required
- Previous experience working with preschool-aged children preferred
- Comfortable being outside for extended periods of time; experience with outdoor education preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and practices
- Strong classroom management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with children

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 hours per week
Hours 8:45-1:45 M-F following Leon County School calendar
