Home Health Aide (HHA) Duties
Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using tools like Hoyer lifts when necessary
Monitor and observe patients’ health status, including vital signs and changes in condition, and report findings accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
Administer medications following prescribed instructions while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality
Support patients with specialized needs such as Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, hospice care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities
Perform light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and ensuring a safe living environment
Document medical records and care activities precisely to ensure continuity of care and compliance with healthcare standards
Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, medication administration, and taking vital signs under supervision or as trained
Home Health Aide (HHA) Skills
Strong patient observation skills to detect changes in health status promptly
Experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation of patient care activities
Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to home health care settings
Ability to work compassionately with seniors and individuals with disabilities or chronic conditions like Alzheimer’s or dementia
Certification in CPR and first aid to ensure safety during emergencies
Familiarity with medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts and blood pressure cuffs
Excellent communication skills for collaborating effectively with healthcare teams and families
Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting patients safely and assisting with mobility needs
Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
