Part-Time Kill Floor / Harvest Floor Employee
Parish Meat Processing is a USDA-inspected beef processing facility that provides whole-animal processing services for local farmers and families throughout Louisiana. We take pride in the quality of our work and the care we take with our customers' animals and products.
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking part-time Kill Floor Employee to join our harvest team. This position will assist with the humane harvest and processing of cattle while maintaining USDA standards, food safety requirements, animal welfare practices, and facility sanitation.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the slaughter, skinning, and evisceration of cattle
- Properly and humanely handle cattle before and during harvest
- Follow all humane slaughter and animal welfare procedures
- Wash, weigh, identify, and label carcasses accurately
- Assist with moving and handling carcasses throughout the harvest process
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment throughout the day
- Follow all USDA regulations, food safety requirements, and company procedures
- Clean and sanitize equipment, tools, work areas, and floors
- Safely handle knives and other processing equipment
- Work efficiently with other members of the harvest team to keep production moving
- Communicate with management and other employees regarding production, safety, equipment, or animal welfare concerns
- Assist with facility and grounds maintenance as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with cattle, livestock, meat processing, or a slaughter facility is preferred but not required
- Cattle-working experience is a plus
- Must be comfortable working around live animals and performing slaughter-related duties
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, cold, wet, and physically demanding environment
- Must be able to stand for extended periods
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull as required
- Must be comfortable safely handling knives and processing equipment
- Must be dependable and consistently arrive on time for scheduled shifts
- Must be willing and able to follow USDA regulations and company procedures
- Must be able to work well as part of a team
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Cross-Training: Employees will be cross-trained in other areas of the plant and may be scheduled by management to assist with additional responsibilities or a secondary position based on business needs and employee qualifications. Cross-training may provide opportunities for additional scheduled hours beyond the regular Tuesday–Thursday schedule.

We are looking for someone who is dependable, hardworking, willing to learn, and takes pride in doing the job correctly. Previous experience is preferred, but training may be provided for applicants who meet the position's requirements.
This position requires someone who understands that cleanliness, efficiency, animal welfare, food safety, and teamwork are essential parts of the job.
Pay: $12.00–$18.00 per hour, depending on experience

Schedule:
- Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
- 6–8 hour shifts
- Monday and Friday shifts may be available with advance notice
- Schedule may vary based on harvest volume
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- Cattle working: 1 year (Preferred)
- Meat processing: 1 year (Preferred)
