The Medical Director of Primary Care for Arizona is responsible for overseeing and elevating the quality of care across all HealthyU Clinics, while supporting cost-effective care delivery and operational excellence. This role is central to advancing the organization’s success as a value-based healthcare leader.
A key focus of this position is to drive quality metric performance across the state of Arizona through the effective implementation and utilization of Adageis. The Medical Director will lead efforts to train, educate, and support providers in understanding, improving, and sustaining quality outcomes. They will develop and implement strategies to ensure providers meet and exceed performance benchmarks while aligning with organizational goals.
This role reports to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and works closely with executive leadership to enhance patient outcomes, improve care delivery, and support the continued growth of the HealthyU brand. Key responsibilities include:
Quality Metrics & Adageis Leadership

Lead and drive quality metric performance across all Arizona clinics, ensuring alignment with value-based care objectives.

Champion the implementation and utilization of Adageis as the primary tool for tracking, managing, and improving provider performance.

Train, teach, and mentor providers on Adageis use, quality metrics, and performance improvement strategies.

Identify gaps in care and implement workflows and interventions to improve HEDIS, STAR, and other quality measures.

Establish accountability structures and monitor provider performance to ensure continuous improvement in quality outcomes.
Provider Oversight & Development

Collaborate with providers to educate on care processes and identify opportunities to enhance overall care quality.

Supervise and support primary care providers, including involvement in recruitment, credentialing, and onboarding.

Develop and implement training programs, standards of practice, and treatment protocols.

Foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and excellence in patient care.
Clinical & Operational Leadership

Manage medical care delivery and clinical services, including cost management, utilization review, quality assurance, clinical safety/risk management, and medical protocol development.

Provide leadership and support to the Quality Improvement (QI) program to ensure high-quality patient care.

Participate in administrative and clinical staff meetings and contribute to organizational decision-making.

Collaborate regularly with specialty care medical directors to ensure coordinated, comprehensive care delivery.

Clinical Responsibilities

Provide direct and indirect patient care as needed.

Maintain current knowledge of healthcare trends, clinical best practices, and evolving standards of care.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

MD or DO with board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine

Active and unrestricted Arizona medical licens

Proven leadership experience in primary care or population health

Experience with value-based care models and quality metrics (HEDIS, STAR, etc.)

Experience with population health platforms (Adageis strongly preferred)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

Ability to travel to all HealthyU Clinics

Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive measurable improvements in care quality and performance
