About the Role
Eco H2O, Inc. is seeking a Dredge Operation Helper to join our cutterhead cable dredge crew supporting environmental and marine construction projects throughout the Southeast. This role assists in the operation, maintenance, and mobilization of our cable-positioned cutterhead dredge, working alongside experienced operators and levermen on active waterway restoration, sediment removal, and channel maintenance projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the dredge operator with setup, operation, and breakdown of the cutterhead dredgeand cable/anchor positioning system
- Handle and adjust cables, anchors, and winches used to swing and advance the cutterhead across the dredge cut
- Monitor cutterhead performance, pipeline flow, and pump pressure; report changes, blockages, or excessive wear
- Assist with floating pipeline assembly, connection, sinking, and relocation as the dredge advances
- Support booster pump station operations along the pipeline route, if applicable
- Perform routine inspection and maintenance on pumps, cutterhead teeth/adapters, winches, and deck machinery
- Assist with daily rigging, mooring, and anchor-line adjustments as the plant moves through the cut
- Conduct pre-shift safety checks on equipment, lines, PPE, and work areas specific to environmental dredging operations
- Support water quality monitoring and turbidity control measures common on environmental/eco-dredge projects
- Assist survey crew with depth soundings and cut-progress checks
- Communicate operational status and hazards clearly via radio with the dredge crew and shore-side personnel
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area on the dredge, tender boats, and pipeline corridor
- Follow all site-specific environmental protocols, silt containment procedures, and permit-driven work restrictions
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
