Role description:
Preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial projects. Utilizing contract documents to prepare bids and estimates for labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs. The ability to develop budgets and GMP’S given varying levels of information and detail. Participate in proposal estimates and the ability to interview for projects.
Role responsibility
Review and analyze drawings, specifications and bid documents
Perform quantity takeoffs and detailed cost estimates
Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers
Prepare and submit bid proposals and budgets
Identify cost saving opportunities and value engineering options
Maintain and update cost databases and estimating tools
Role requirements/abilities/skills/strengths
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field
Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
3+ years of estimating experience in general construction
Proficient in estimating software (Procore, Planswift, Bluebeam, or similar)
Is forward thinking/self-motivated and possess good time management skills.
Ability to remain calm, focused and effective under all situations.
Demonstrates acceptable communication and negotiating skills.
Uses the technology provided by BIC for the role of an estimator.
Advocates and creates BIC culture when interacting with subcontractors, suppliers, owners, and design team members.
Provides mentoring to BIC employees to grow their skills.
Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
