Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Commercial Driver's License (CDL) A Truck Driver to join our transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating tractor-trailers to transport freight across various routes while ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations. Your expertise in handling different types of trailers, including refrigerated, flatbed, tanker, and roll-off trucks, will be essential to delivering goods efficiently and securely. Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmission across designated routes, adhering strictly to DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.
- Load and unload freight using appropriate manual handling techniques and equipment such as forklifts or dump trucks when necessary.
- Manage various trailer types including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and roll-off trucks to transport diverse cargo such as hazardous materials or dangerous goods.
- Utilize GPS navigation systems for route planning and navigation to ensure timely deliveries.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before and after each trip.
- Follow all safety protocols related to hazardous materials regulations and ensure proper documentation for dangerous goods shipments.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery records in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or any issues encountered during transit.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a valid CDL A license.
- Proficiency in driving manual transmission trucks and operating various trailer types such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials handling, and safety procedures related to commercial trucking.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely during load & unload operations using forklifts or other equipment.
- Excellent route planning skills utilizing GPS navigation tools for efficient delivery routes.
- Experience with freight management including logistics cargo handling and route driving optimization.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with dispatchers and customers during deliveries.
- Physical stamina and dexterity necessary for long hours of driving and manual cargo handling tasks.
