Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Journeyman Instrumentation Technician to join our team in maintaining and troubleshooting complex industrial systems. This role requires a deep understanding of instrumentation, electrical systems, and mechanical components within manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in industrial maintenance, calibration, and field service, with a strong background in PLCs, sensors, and control systems. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects involving high voltage, low voltage, vision inspection systems, and distributed control systems, ensuring optimal operation and safety of our manufacturing processes.
Duties
- Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation equipment including sensors, PLCs, and vision inspection systems.
- Interpret schematics and technical drawings using AutoCAD and other design tools to facilitate accurate installation and maintenance.
- Perform calibration of precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Maintain and repair electrical systems ranging from low voltage to high voltage applications, including industrial electrician tasks.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on instrumentation and control systems to minimize downtime.
- Assist with the integration of new equipment such as Control Panels and calibration of instrumentation, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Perform field service activities including troubleshooting in various manufacturing settings and providing technical support to operations teams.
- Utilize diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and other electrical testing instruments to identify faults.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards, including working with high voltage systems safely.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on schematics development and modifications using AutoCAD or similar software.
- Support customer service initiatives by providing technical expertise during system upgrades or repairs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Journeyman Instrumentation Technician or similar role within manufacturing or industrial maintenance settings.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, mechanical systems, sensors, calibration techniques, and precision measuring instruments.
- Strong electrical experience including low voltage and high voltage systems; familiarity with industrial electricians’ practices is preferred.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and working with distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and vision inspection systems.
- Hands-on experience with AutoCAD for schematic interpretation and modifications.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with customer service orientation for effective field service support.
- Experience with VFDs, MCCs, PLC-related components, communications equipment systems preferred.
- Working with municipalities, water and wastewater systems is advantageous but not required.
