We are a Miami immigration practice focused on removal defense. We represent clients before the Miami Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals, including detained matters. We are hiring a full-time paralegal to support that work.
This is substantive litigation support under direct attorney supervision - not form preparation.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Prepare and assemble EOIR filings: asylum applications (I-589), cancellation of removal (EOIR-42A/42B), bond motions, motions to continue, and motions to reopen
- Build and index exhibit packets, including country conditions documentation
- File through ECAS and maintain EOIR eRegistry submissions
- Calendar master calendar and individual hearing dates, filing deadlines, and appeal deadlines, and protect them
- Assist with declaration intake, translation, and hearing preparation alongside the attorney
- Communicate with detained clients, family members, ICE, and the court
- Track ICE check-ins, ISAP obligations, and status changes
- Maintain organized digital case files
REQUIRED
- Fluent Spanish and English, including the ability to read handwritten client declarations and translate accurately
- Ability to work under hard deadlines where a missed date has permanent consequences for a client
- Meticulous document organization and discretion with confidential information
- Authorization to work in the United States
HELPFUL
- Prior removal defense experience at a law firm or nonprofit
- Familiarity with ECAS, EOIR eRegistry, and USCIS online filing
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience
- Haitian Creole
HOW THIS ROLE OPERATES
All work is performed under the supervision of a licensed attorney. Paralegals at this firm do not give legal advice, do not sign filings without attorney review, and do not advise clients on case strategy. Applicants from independent immigration consulting or form-preparation backgrounds are welcome to apply, but should understand this role operates under strict attorney supervision.
Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
