The Automotive Skilled Trades Instructor provides hands‑on classroom instruction for participants enrolled in Goodwill Industries of Michiana’s Automotive Skilled Trades Training Program. This part-time role helps individuals build in‑demand automotive technician skills through an ASE‑aligned curriculum designed to meet the needs of local employers and prepare students for successful entry into the automotive workforce.
The Automotive Instructor teaches core competencies including automotive safety, repair theory, diagnostics, brakes, steering and suspension, and engine repair, while reinforcing customer service and workplace readiness skills. Compensation:
$21 hourly
Responsibilities:-
Work collaboratively with Program Coordinators, Success Coaches, Career Navigators, and employer partners to enhance participant outcomes
- Build a positive, inclusive learning environment for students of varying skill levels
- Support the development, refinement, and delivery of curriculum and lesson plans
- Maintain accurate attendance records, participant progress notes, and required program documentation
- Deliver engaging, hands‑on instruction aligned with ASE standards

Qualifications:-
Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the automotive industry
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening
- Current Professional level ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications or ability to obtain
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance
- Associate’s degree preferred
