Responsibilities
- Act as the primary contact for new patient inquiries, guiding families through the intake process with professionalism and compassion
- Collect and verify patient information, including medical history, insurance details, and eligibility criteria, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Utilize patient management software and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems to document all intake activities accurately and efficiently
- Coordinate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and internal teams to facilitate timely admissions and ensure compliance with health regulation policies
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and organizational standards
- Answer phone calls promptly, providing clear information about services, scheduling appointments, and addressing inquiries with customer service excellence
- Support medical administrative tasks such as data entry, typing reports, managing documentation, and maintaining organized records
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in a medical office environment or healthcare setting, preferably with hospice or palliative care services
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and communication purposes
- Strong understanding of health regulation policies, insurance procedures, and medical terminology
- Experience with medical administrative support tasks including patient data entry and managing electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems)
- Familiarity with patient management software and electronic health records (EHR) systems to streamline intake processes
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate empathetically via phone and client interactions
- Knowledge of health insurance processes to assist with coverage verification and billing inquiries
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality diligently while managing sensitive information
- Strong typing skills for accurate data entry and documentation
- Office experience demonstrating organizational skills, attention to detail, and multitasking abilities
- Bilingual - Spanish Preferred
