A Youth Development Professional (YDP) focuses on delivering activities and mentorship to youth ages 6-18 that support their developmental growth toward a great future. YDPs plan and deliver programming to their age-based groups focusing on the Arts, Education, Character & Leadership, Health & Wellness, and Sports & Recreation. YDPs steward a climate that is inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Attends mandatory Professional Development Days once a month.

Assist in daily cleaning of program spaces.

As Mandated Reports, all BGCSA staff will be responsible for reporting any suspected physical, emotional, and/or sexual abuse of youth to the authorities and Child Protective Services.

Responsible for youth safety and promptly documenting any medical and/or behavioral issues.

Provides positive, informal guidance and mentorship while supervising a group of (20) elementary, middle, or high school students

Guide students through fun, hands-on learning and social recreation activities, including art (music, theater, visual arts), STEM, games, sports, and more!

Implement Boys & Girls Club curricula based on existing or new programs to create a high-quality club experience.

Effectively run programs, services, and other activities for members, community, and family engagement opportunities.

Promotes and stimulates membership and participation in activities in the club.

Responsible for classroom management and maintenance by ensuring safety and youth engagement.

Efficiently utilizing social-emotional skills to identify and address behavioral issues and notify management of any escalating issues.

Effectively implements and promotes techniques of conflict resolution & de-escalation with youth.

Engages and supports volunteers who assist with the implementation of program activities.

Establish positive relationships with all stakeholders, including youth, parents, volunteers, schools, and community partners.

Takes responsibility for assigned equipment and supplies.

Assist in transporting youth after school and/or on field trips and ensuring all youth are supervised and accounted for.

Report any needed repairs and/or maintenance requests promptly.

Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.

Must complete and pass a comprehensive background check.

HS Diploma required.

Must be at least 18 years or older.

Minimum 6 months of experience working with youth preferred.

Must possess good character and decision-making skills.

Must possess a sincere interest in children, maturity, self-control, and sound judgment.

Ability to communicate effectively with peers, members, and management.
