Position Description
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming school environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position performs routine cleaning and facility-support duties while following all applicable school safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
Salary and Benefits
Hourly Rate: $16.50 per hour
Work Schedule: 7 hours per day
Retirement: Eligible to participate in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF)

Preferred Qualifications
Previous custodial or building maintenance experience preferred.
Previous custodial experience in a school or educational setting is highly preferred.
Ability to work independently, follow directions, and prioritize daily tasks.
Ability to interact professionally and appropriately with students, staff, and visitors.
Knowledge of safe cleaning practices, equipment operation, and basic facility maintenance is preferred.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform daily cleaning and sanitation of classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, and other school facilities.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas throughout the building.
Properly use, clean, and maintain hand tools, power tools, cleaning equipment, and other facility-related equipment.
Follow all applicable safety policies, procedures, and regulations, including proper handling and storage of cleaning supplies and chemicals.
Monitor the building for maintenance, safety, or security concerns and promptly report issues to administration.
Prepare classrooms and common areas for daily school operations, meetings, and special events.
Maintain adequate supplies and notify administration when cleaning or maintenance supplies need to be reordered.
Support a safe and positive school environment by maintaining facilities in a manner that promotes student and staff health and well-being.
Respond appropriately to spills, accidents, and other facility-related situations in accordance with school procedures.
Perform additional custodial and facility-related duties as assigned by administration.
