Duties
- Conduct patient intake by gathering medical history, current symptoms, and relevant information with professionalism and empathy
- Perform diagnostic tests including visual acuity assessments, intraocular pressure measurements.
- Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures, ensuring all equipment is prepared and maintained according to safety standards
- Maintain accurate medical records within electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently
- Educate patients on eye health, medication usage, and post-procedure care to promote understanding and compliance
Requirements
- Prior experience in medical office settings or clinic environments preferred; ophthalmology or optical experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health and vision care
- Familiarity with EMR systems s for documentation and record keeping
- Ability to perform intake procedures accurately while maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, team members, and healthcare providers
