We are seeking a dependable and dedicated Food Service Technician I to join our food services team. This position helps oversee kitchen and dietary procedures while ensuring compliance with ServSafe Guidelines and School and Adult Nutrition Program requirements.
The Food Service Technician I plays an important role in maintaining a safe and sanitary food service environment and supporting the specialized dietary needs of the students and clients we serve.
- Follow ServSafe food safety guidelines and recognize potential biological, chemical, and physical food safety hazards.
- Follow proper food handling procedures, including handwashing, glove use, appropriate dress, and prevention of cross-contamination.
- Maintain knowledge of student and client food allergies and follow procedures to prevent exposure.
- Monitor food temperatures and follow appropriate procedures for cooking, cooling, reheating, and holding hot and cold foods.
- Purchase, receive, label, date, and safely store food and non-food items.
- Follow and implement Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) procedures and ensure compliance.
- Assist with maintaining kitchen equipment and food service areas through regular inspections and monitoring.
- Follow appropriate cleaning and sanitizing procedures and assist in implementing an effective cleaning program with kitchen staff.
- Work collaboratively with the dietitian, speech-language pathologists, and kitchen teams with meal preparation as needed, including modified diet textures.
- Understand and monitor specialized dietary modifications and individual dietary needs of students and clients.
- Monitor the assembly and labeling of lunch trays according to the lunch roster.
- Maintain production records and complete required paperwork and reports.
- Perform job duties that may involve moderate to strenuous activity, including lifting, repetitive bending, pulling, pushing, and stooping.
- Cooperate with all licensing and accrediting requirements, including inspections, investigations, and inquiries.
- Comply with LADACIN Network policies, procedures, and Code of Ethics.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Food Service Technician II.
- High School diploma or GED.
- ServSafe certification and completion of training in food services or current enrollment in a food service training program.
- Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, food storage, and preparation practices.
- Ability to understand and follow specialized dietary requirements and food allergy precautions.
- Ability to perform job duties involving moderate to strenuous physical activity, including lifting, repetitive bending, pulling, pushing, and stooping.
- Must satisfy requirements for criminal background, Central Registry, Child Abuse Registry, and drug screening checks.
