Responsible for preparing food orders for the residents and ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen by performing the following duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following:
- Responsible for meal preparation to assure that all food is well prepared and that it follows established cooking recipes and is served attractively to residents.
- Uses deep fryer, electric choppers, mixers, blenders, steamers, graters, and other preparatory utensils.
- Maintains the highest safety and sanitary conditions at all times in the kitchen areas.
- Utilizes safety precautions with equipment and sanitation procedures and ensures other dining staff do the same.
- Follows portion and quality control standards of the menu.
- Ensures all leftover and/or unused food products are stored, restocked, or disposed of properly.
- Examines, labels, and stores incoming food supplies in storage and refrigeration areas appropriately.
- Ensures kitchen appliances and equipment have been cleaned and turned off at the end of each work day.
- Assists in food delivery to the houses as needed and use that time to observe and evaluate meal service quality.
- Reports any health and/or safety concerns/violations immediately to management.
- Accepts and respects resident input regarding meal preparation and presentation.
- Participates in staff, team and task force meetings and training opportunities as scheduled or requested.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Language Ability
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Ability
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Able to work Weekends and Holidays.
