Position Overview
Inexhaustible Grace is seeking compassionate and dedicated One-to-One Mentors (Youth Support Specialists) to provide individualized support to youth involved in the child welfare system. Mentors work directly with one assigned youth in a foster home or group home setting to promote safety, stability, emotional well-being, and positive development. This role requires building trusting relationships, supporting daily routines, and serving as a consistent, positive role model.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one mentorship, supervision, and emotional support to assigned youth
- Ensure the safety, well-being, and stability of the youth at all times
- Transport youth to and from school, medical appointments, therapy, court appointments, and approved activities
- Support daily routines, scheduling, homework, and academic engagement
- Model healthy behavior, communication, and decision-making skills
- Assist with life skills development and social-emotional growth
- Use trauma-informed practices to de-escalate conflicts and support behavioral needs
- Follow behavior support plans, safety plans, and mandated reporting requirements
- Collaborate with foster parents, group home staff, case managers, and service providers
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, and incident reports
- Participate in trainings, team meetings, and case reviews
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times
- Comply with agency, county, and state regulations, including transportation and safety protocols
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience working with children or adolescents in educational, childcare, mentoring, or social service settings preferred
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, behavioral health, or child welfare practices is highly desirable
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently while maintaining professionalism and accountability
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- Background in social work, youth development, psychology, special education, or related fields is a plus
Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts available for both daytime and overnight coverage
- Schedule options include: Monday through Friday shifts & Weekend-only shifts (Saturday and Sunday)
- Flexible scheduling based on program and youth needs
- Employees are required to work holidays; holiday schedules may be alternated with coworkers
- Additional availability for evenings or extended coverage may be required as needed
