Registered Nurse (RN) – Mental & Behavioral Health, Pediatrics

The Registered Nurse supports the overall health and safety of acute youth psychiatric patients through medication administration, health assessments, infection control, documentation, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and consultation with direct care staff.
What you will do:

Complete nursing assessments and documentation within required timelines.

Perform ongoing assessments and monitor vital signs per policy.

Administer medications, including psychotropic and PRN medications, and document accurately.

Monitor infection control, respond to injuries and emergencies, and provide first aid as needed.

Communicate with physicians, guardians, and treatment teams regarding patient health.

Maintain accurate documentation of all medical interventions, orders, and records.

Partner with the staff nutritionist to meet patient dietary needs and report allergies.

Participate in treatment planning, staff training, and patient education groups.

Assist with lab specimen collection and ensure timely pharmacy coordination.

Support safety and wellbeing by following all KVC procedures and protocols.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
-
Graduation from an accredited nursing program
-
3-6 months related experience and/or training
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
-
Strong understanding of child development and common pediatric mental health disorders
Preferred Qualifications
-
Certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMHN) or Pediatric Nursing (CPN)
-
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent nursing degree
-
Experience in school-based or educational health programs
-
Training in trauma-informed care and crisis intervention
-
Knowledge of Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and 504 plans
-
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Shifts:
Various shifts available- day time and evenings. Full time and part time.
Shift Differentials:

This position offers the opportunity for weekend differential ($2/hr), evening differential ($3/hr), and preceptor differential ($2/hr)

About Camber: Camber Mental Health is a subsidiary of KVC Health Systems. Children’s Mercy and Camber Mental Health have partnered and opened this state of the art 72-bed mental health inpatient hospital located in Olathe, Kansas- expanding inpatient pediatric mental health treatment capacity and access in the greater Kansas City area and across the region.
