Overview
Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing is partnering with a growing biotechnology organization to identify an experienced Accounting Manager to lead general ledger operations and support financial reporting within a dynamic, science-driven environment.
This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional with strong technical expertise, prior supervisory experience, and a proven ability to operate within a mid-to-large, fast-paced organization. The Accounting Manager will play a critical role in supporting accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with GAAP, and driving process improvements as the company continues to scale.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Manage general ledger operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
Analyze financial results and provide variance explanations to leadership
Maintain and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures
Support audit processes, including preparation of schedules and documentation
Partner cross-functionally with finance, operations, and other departments to improve reporting and processes
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff
Assist with system enhancements and process optimization initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory experience
Strong general ledger and technical accounting background required
Experience working within mid-to-large organizations preferred
Public accounting and corporate accounting experience is a plus
CPA designation preferred, but not required
Experience with large ERP systems (e.g., JD Edwards, NetSuite, or similar) preferred
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
Preferred Experience
Experience in biotechnology, life sciences, or a highly regulated environment preferred
Exposure to complex accounting areas such as revenue recognition, leases, or technical accounting
Experience supporting audits, compliance, or financial reporting in a growth-oriented company
Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and enhance operational efficiency
