Surveyor’s Helper / Rodman Job Description
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Surveyor’s Helper to assist our field survey crews on a variety of construction and land development projects. This position involves working outdoors daily and helping operate surveying equipment used for construction layout and staking.
Responsibilities
- Assist in setting up and operating surveying equipment, including total stations and site levels
- Help perform construction staking and layout for:
- Roads
- Utilities
- Buildings
- Other construction projects
- Carry and maintain survey tools and equipment
- Place stakes, hubs, and markers as directed by the survey crew chief
- Record measurements and field notes accurately
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment
- Travel to project sites as needed
Requirements
- Must be dependable and arrive on time every day
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to lift and carry survey equipment and materials
- Willingness to learn surveying methods and construction layout procedures
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Prior construction or surveying experience is a plus, but not required

- Outdoor field work on active construction sites
