We’re hiring experienced Event Chefs to support banquets and events
Event Chef Description-
Overview:
Reporting to the Executive Sous Chef, the Event Chef is responsible for overseeing the preparation and the execution of events. On-site at an event, the Event Chef is the manager responsible for the culinary team, and ensuring that the food, timing, and presentation are according to CxRA standards. The Event Chef coordinates with the Event Captain and Pantry Supervisor to make sure that all on-site staff are working together as a team. The Event Chef oversees the packing of all items for their event and ensures that the prep is completed on-time and that they leave for the event according to the transportation schedule. In this position, the event chef also communicates with Sous Chefs and managers about issues that arise at events, as well as help lead the team by training and mentoring the cooks they work with.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leads and supports daily food prep, cooking, and plating, ensuring consistent quality and portion standards.
2. Supervises and guides hourly culinary staff, delegating tasks and providing on-the-job training.
3. Maintains a clean, safe, and organized kitchen in compliance with health department and company standards.
4. Ensures all recipes, procedures, and prep lists are followed accurately.
5. Communicates effectively with kitchen and office teams to ensure smooth operations.
6. Monitors food and ingredient usage to minimize waste and support inventory accuracy.
7. Supports and participate in daily opening and closing responsibilities.
8. Follows all food safety and sanitation regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience and knowledge in catering operations
2. Advanced culinary skills, this is not an entry position
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
4. Time management and organization
5. 5+ years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience, depending upon formal degree or training
6. Natural sense of urgency, attention to detail
7. ServSafe certified - highly desirable

Key Responsibilities:
1. Follow Lead-Chef instructions, we expect full compliance as any other kitchen
2. Maintain organization and cleanliness in the prep area, adhering to food safety and sanitation practices.
3. Ensure that all ingredients are stored properly to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.
4. Assist Chefs in managing production lists and prep schedules, ensuring readiness for event execution.
5. Support the team by assisting with cooking, packaging, and presentation of food as needed.
6. Follow established timelines to ensure all prep work is completed in time for events.
7. Communicate effectively with team members to address any issues that arise during prep.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Previous experience in a high-volume kitchen environment, especially in catering or production kitchens.
2. Knowledge of food safety standards and proper handling procedures.
3. Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately, with a keen attention to detail.
4. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
5. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
6. Ability to stay organized and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
7. 1-2 years of kitchen or food prep experience is preferred.

Strongly preferred:
- Banquet, catering, hotel, fine dining experience
- Food safety certification (ServSafe or similar)
- Experience working large events or multi-station lines
- References will push you to the front of the line
