The Opportunity:
Whittier Street Health Center is seeking a full-time Staff Optometrist to join our multidisciplinary care team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive eye and vision care services to a diverse patient population while supporting our mission to advance health equity and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care to Boston’s communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive eye exams, vision assessments, and treatment plans for patients of all ages
- Assess and manage acute and chronic eye conditions and eye-related injuries
- Perform annual eye exams and accurately document findings within the EMR and other required systems
- Collaborate with opticians regarding lens recommendations, frame selection, and specialty coatings
- Make referrals to ophthalmology and specialty services when clinically appropriate
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and multidisciplinary patient care projects
- Serve as a resource to providers and staff regarding eye care-related clinical matters
Qualifications:
- Current licensure in Massachusetts as a therapeutically certified Doctor of Optometry
- Residency training preferred, or a minimum of three years of optometry experience in a community-based or outpatient setting
- Current BLS certification
- Strong knowledge of optometric practice standards and patient-centered care
- Experience working collaboratively within interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Comfort working with diverse patient populations in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Knowledge of computer systems and electronic medical records
