Job Summary: The patient service representative plays a crucial role in delivering excellent patient
care by managing front desk operations, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and ensuring a
positive patient experience.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Greet and check in patients with professionalism and courtesy.
- Registration, load insurance, verify referrals, collect copay, and balances.
- Scheduling office visits and outpatient diagnostic testing.
- Assist Physicians and staff in scheduling patients.
- Manage incoming hospital requests according to set protocol.
- Key player and participant in alerting and assisting entire building of emergencies.
- Assist patients with directions to all office locations.
- Take messages when required and maintain said records of all communications
- Follow all established scheduling protocols provided by the Supervisor.
- Maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations
- Represent our Practice and Facility to referring Physicians, patients and all other callers, in a positive and pleasant manner.
- Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, and clinical teams to ensure seamless patient flow.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor to support the needs of the practice and ensure optimal patient care.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to multi-task, problem solve and prioritize tasks based on urgency.
- Excellent usage of Multi phone line systems and heavy computer use.
- Friendly and professional customer service skills in person and on the phone.
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with others.
- Flexibility, promptness, and desire to be a team player.
- Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and efficiency.
- Adhere to business casual dress code as set by SDCA.
- Must have flexibility in the work schedule.
- Patient facing role.
- Must have the ability to travel to any office location assigned for that day.
Education and Experience:
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Medical office experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to assist with adult patient in emergencies as needed
- Lifting requirements do not exceed 25 pounds
Hours a Week: 40
Compensation: $19-$22 per hour depending on experience and education
