Roy Maas Youth Alternatives (RMYA) creates brighter futures for children in crisis by promoting individual success and healthy relationships in a safe, healing environment, giving children and families the tools to end the cycle of abuse. RMYA provides youth with basic living needs, including food, clothing, shelter, hygiene, education, vocation, transportation, recreation, and extracurricular needs. We provide treatment programs for traumatized youth who most often are victims of sexual, physical, and/or emotional abuse and who present behavioral and mental health needs. RMYA uses trauma-informed techniques and relationship-based approaches to create safe environments that provide consistency, structure, and care for the youth we serve.
Job Summary:
The Case Manager provides specialized case management services to youth placed in an RMYA program. The case management is done by collaborating with the youth, the treatment team, and the youth’s placement team.
Case Managers will be responsible for providing case support; intakes; discharges; and development, implementation, and review of therapeutic services for assigned residents in collaboration with the primary clinician. Case Manager will provide support, follow-ups, and documentation of the services offered to the youth while they are placed with RMYA. The position requires coordination with various government agencies, community groups, civic and non-profit organizations and RMYA resources to connect youth to needed services.
Case Managers will ensure services and activities are regularly reviewed and evaluated for effectiveness as part of the continuous quality improvement process. To include regularly receiving feedback from external stakeholders, youth and employees to adjust strategies as needed to improve outcomes.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Case Management
- Assist in providing case management for youth who are currently in an RMYA program on assigned caseload.
- Serve as the point of contact for the youth with the treatment team about youth’s needs and progress in care.
- Collaborate with the Medical Consenter and document all services the youth is receiving through STAR Health, HHSC Behavioral Health, the juvenile justice and education systems, and any other county, community, or state agency.
- Seek community resources to obtain any needed services that are not covered through STAR Health.
Intakes and Discharges
- Coordinate pre-admission of youth, provide new youth orientation, ensure intake documentation meets compliance requirements, completes admission assessments, and preliminary service plans in client management system.
- Complete admission paperwork for youth being placed with RMYA.
- Coordinate and oversee discharges for youth on caseload.
- Must be able to maintain a flexible schedule for intakes and discharges 24/7.
- Participate in on-call rotation for intakes and discharges. Document information received as necessary to maintain admission/deferral log.
- Coordinate pre-admission of youths, provide new youth orientation, ensure intake documentation meets compliance requirements, completes admission assessments, and preliminary service plans in client management system.
- Complete admission paperwork for youth being placed with RMYA.
- Ensure school enrollment is completed. This includes advocating for, and ensuring various educational testing and plans are completed, and accommodations and/or supports are in place to aid in the youth’s educational success.
- Development and maintenance of the Education Portfolio.
- Coordinate and oversee discharges for youth on caseload.
- Must be able to maintain a flexible schedule for intakes and discharges 24/7.
Relationships and Collaboration

- Contribute ideas and solutions to the Compliance and Quality Improvement Plan regarding Cross-System Coordination.
- Protect the confidentiality of clients and RMYAs proprietary information.
- Adhere to RMYAs Code of Ethics.
- Maintain Compliance with all training requirements.
- Maintain compliance with all RMYA, DFPS, T3C, SSCC and COA policies and procedures and with all federal, state and local laws.
- Complete documentation, reports and responsibilities within assigned deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or another human services field required; master’s degree in social science or related field preferred.
- 2 years of relevant youth work experience, including experience in case management, group work, and case coordination required. Previous experience working with clients in a residential, shelter, community based, or hospital setting preferred.
- Deep Understanding of Department of Family Services (DFPS) licensing and operating requirements preferred.
- Certification/Licenses: Valid Texas driver’s license, Military ID, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire. Must have an acceptable driving record.
- Successful clearance of Department of Family and Protective Services licensing background checks, (to include fingerprinting and drug testing) and maintenance of cleared status.
- Ability to maintain compliance with applicable Texas rules, regulations, and laws that govern behavioral and mental health services for youth and their families ensuring that the highest standards of generally accepted clinical, ethical, and professional standards are followed.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

- Ability to lift and carry at least 10 pounds.
