Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Service Writer to join our automotive service team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in customer service and automotive repair, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients regarding their vehicle needs. This role is essential in ensuring that customers receive high-quality service and accurate estimates for repairs and maintenance.
Must be familiar with how to work Technician Flat Rate Systems.
Must be customer service friendly and.
Must know how to utilize Dealertrack DMS Service effeciently.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and assess their vehicle service needs, providing exceptional customer service throughout the process.
- Prepare detailed service estimates and invoices, utilizing skills in auto estimating and sales to upsell additional services when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, services performed, and parts used.
- Collaborate with service technicians to ensure clear communication regarding repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance tasks.
- Manage cash handling processes efficiently during transactions.
- Stay informed about the latest automotive technologies, repair techniques, and dealership practices to provide informed recommendations to customers.
- Assist in scheduling appointments and follow-up communications with clients regarding their vehicle status.
Qualifications
- Previous dealership experience is preferred, with a solid understanding of automotive service management practices.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and experience in automotive diagnostics, including familiarity with transmissions, oil changes, brake repair, alignment, suspension, tire service, diesel engine repair, shocks & struts, auto body repair, and air brake systems.
- Proven customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to clients in an understandable manner.
- Experience as a service technician or in a similar role is highly desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
