REPORTS TO: Program Manager
STATUS: Non-exempt, Full Time (40 hours per week) pay rate $22.00 per hour, Year-round position.

Position Overview:
The Post-Secondary Coordinator (PSC) provides high school students with opportunities for post high school training and education. The PSC is responsible for contributing to the overall planning and coordination of Communities In Schools of Northeast Washington (CISNEW) operations and will support students through the implementation of the evidence-based CIS model of integrated student supports. The PSC will work with school administration, community partners and volunteers to coordinate resources necessary to address post-secondary education options for students who have identified vulnerabilities. The PSC will work with student support staff, particularly those involved in CTE to identify potential participants and to assist with the FAFSA and WAFSA application process. The PSC will collaborate with school administrators, school counselors and staff, other college access providers and community partners. The PSC brokers and/or provides confidential, appropriate and culturally competent interventions, services and supports to students and families. They also work in partnership with community partners and other agencies to assure additional resources are available for students and families.
Key Responsibilities:
Actively mentor identified students, delivering content and resources to assist with post high school training and education.
Work with school principals, school staff and local community partners to recruit and enroll high school students in job shadowing, exposure and placement.
Meet with students individually to gather input on their interests, issues and perceived barriers to success.
In collaboration with appropriate high school staff, monitor academic performance and track attendance for each student to ensure progress toward the goal of becoming post high school ready/eligible.
Collaborate and communicate with the school's college counselor and other college access program providers to support college planning for students who have an interest in attending college.
Submit student data, monthly program and grant required reports to the Program Manager as required.
Work with partner mentor programs to recruit, train, assign and monitor mentors and volunteers as needed.
Maintain records on mentors and volunteers as required by CISNEW, LaunchNW and WSAC.
Organize, schedules, and chaperones field trips relevant to college and career exploration including career/employment fairs or campus tours.
Attend professional development opportunities and other meetings as assigned.
Attend occasional evening and weekend events.
Coordinate or support a minimum of 4 family engagement events related to post-secondary education opportunities.
Performs other duties as it relates to student support.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to positively connect with students and staff in a school environment.
· Successful experience with planning, implementing and directing academic and enrichment-based activities for youth.
· Experience with planning, coordinating and facilitating extracurricular, after school, summer, or community-based youth programs.
· Ability to work with youth and families from a diverse population.
· Knowledge of specific computer skills/programs including Microsoft Office Suite.
· Strong organizational, project management and communication skills.
· Must manage multiple tasks and be able to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
· Demonstrated commitment to helping young people stay in school and prepare for life.
· Ability to understand, implement and maintain quality and conduct monthly program evaluation.
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree in youth development, recreation, education, social work or work experience in related field.
· Staff supervision experience and volunteer coordination preferred.
· Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and ability to pass a background and FBI fingerprint check.
· Experience dealing with multiple layers of supervision
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day programs and activities. Ability to work and get along with diverse personalities and cultures while at all times displaying tact, maturity, and flexibility. Physical requirements include seeing, hearing, sitting, standing, walking, running, bending, twisting, stooping, and lifting up to 25lbs occasionally.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The coordinator will spend time at their assigned schools to provide guidance and support to staff members, students and community volunteers. Working hours may vary depending on activities and events, generally weekdays between 8:00- 6:00pm. Hours worked per week shall not exceed 40 hours.
