Overview

In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, coordinate surgical schedules, manage medical records, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and assist with patient intake processes to ensure smooth clinic flow
- Schedule surgical procedures, appointments, and follow-up visits using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Verify insurance benefits, perform insurance authorizations, and handle billing inquiries with accuracy and professionalism
- Manage medical records by reviewing documentation for completeness, maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA policies, and updating electronic health records (EHR systems) like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix
- Assist with medical coding including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), ICD coding, and ensure proper documentation review for billing accuracy
- Coordinate communication between patients, clinical staff, and external providers via multi-line phone systems while practicing excellent phone etiquette
- Maintain a clean and organized front desk area, manage filing systems, and handle administrative tasks such as data entry using Microsoft Office tools
Skills
- Proven experience in medical office management or clinic administrative support within healthcare settings such as dental clinics or hospitals
- Strong knowledge of health insurance processes including verification, Medicare procedures, and health information management standards
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks; experience with Eaglesoft or Dentrix is a plus
- Competent in medical billing and coding practices involving CPT codes and ICD-10/ICD-9 classifications to ensure accurate reimbursement
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in bilingual environments if applicable
- Proficient in computer skills including typing (10 key typing), Microsoft Office applications, filing systems, and electronic health record management software
- Ability to handle clinical confidentiality policies diligently while managing sensitive patient information
- Strong organizational skills for appointment scheduling, documentation review, and office management tasks
- Knowledge of dental terminology and dental office procedures is advantageous for candidates with dental clinic experience
