Position Overview
As a Server at AFURI, you are a key part of the guest experience. You will provide attentive, knowledgeable, and genuine hospitality while helping guests explore our menu of ramen, Japanese-inspired dishes, cocktails, sake, and beverages. Successful candidates are detail-oriented, team-focused, and committed to delivering exceptional service in a high-volume restaurant environment.
ResponsibilitiesGuest Service
- Welcome and engage guests with a warm, friendly, and professional attitude.
- Guide guests through the menu, answer questions, and provide thoughtful recommendations.
- Anticipate guest needs and ensure an outstanding dining experience from start to finish.
- Address guest concerns promptly and professionally.
Food & Beverage Knowledge
- Develop a strong understanding of AFURI's menu, ingredients, and preparation methods.
- Recommend ramen, appetizers, cocktails, sake, beer, and other beverages with confidence.
- Suggest pairings and enhancements to elevate the guest experience.
Sales & Upselling
- Promote featured menu items, seasonal offerings, and beverage programs.
- Utilize suggestive selling techniques to increase guest satisfaction and overall sales.
- Contribute to achieving restaurant sales goals through product knowledge and hospitality.
Service & Operations
- Accurately enter orders into the POS system and communicate modifications clearly.
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked service stations.
- Monitor table progression to ensure timely and efficient service.
- Complete opening, running, and closing side work, including stocking, cleaning, beverage preparation, and other assigned duties.
Teamwork
- Work closely with servers, bartenders, hosts, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate effectively and support team members during busy service periods.
- Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a respectful workplace culture.
Qualifications
- Previous serving experience in a high-volume restaurant preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of Japanese cuisine, sake, or cocktails is a plus.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
