Project Engineer – Rebar Division
Build Projects. Solve Problems. Make the Team Better.
At Penn Steel, we believe great projects are built by great people.
We're looking for a Project Engineer who is organized, enthusiastic, and enjoys working with others to solve problems. This is an opportunity to work alongside experienced Project Managers while gaining the knowledge and experience needed to build a successful career in construction management.
We're looking for someone who brings a positive attitude every day, communicates well with others, and takes pride in helping projects succeed. If you enjoy learning, like being part of a team, and aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves when challenges arise, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do

Your responsibilities will include:
- Track daily installed quantities, labor hours, and field productivity.

- Maintain and update 2–6 week look-ahead schedules.
- Coordinate with general contractors, field leadership, and trade partners to keep projects moving.
- Track installed quantities against budget and contract requirements.
- Support accurate Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and project forecasting.
- Document RFIs, delays, field issues, and potential change order opportunities.
- Communicate effectively between the field and office to help eliminate surprises.
- Assist the Project Manager in delivering safe, high-quality, profitable projects.
You'll Be Successful Here If You...
- Bring enthusiasm and a positive attitude to work every day.
- Enjoy solving problems and finding practical solutions.
- Take ownership of your work and follow through on commitments.
- Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and field personnel.
- Stay organized, even when projects become fast-paced.
- Want to continue learning and growing in the construction industry.
- Believe strong teams accomplish more than individuals working alone.
Qualifications
- 1–5 years of construction experience (rebar or structural steel experience preferred).
- Ability to read construction drawings and track quantities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Comfortable working in an active construction environment.
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required for candidates with relevant experience.

- Effective coordination with field and office teams.
- Early identification of schedule impacts and change opportunities.
- Strong support of project profitability and customer satisfaction.
