Geo Tavern & Oyster Bar is seeking an experienced and driven Sous Chef to help build one of the Triangle's premier neighborhood restaurants.
We're looking for a culinary leader who understands that exceptional service begins well before the first ticket is fired. The ideal candidate is organized, accountable, and passionate about developing people, maintaining high standards, and creating the systems that allow a kitchen team to perform at its best.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily kitchen preparation and ensure seamless execution during service.
- Ensure all stations are fully stocked, organized, and service-ready prior to each shift.
- Manage inventory, purchasing, receiving, and proper product rotation.
- Conduct daily line checks to maintain consistency, quality, and presentation.
- Train, mentor, and develop line cooks while fostering a positive, high-performance culture.
- Uphold standards for cleanliness, organization, food safety, and execution throughout the kitchen.
- Partner with the Executive Chef to improve recipes, kitchen systems, and operational efficiency.
- Lead by example during service with professionalism, urgency, and composure.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or senior Kitchen Manager in a high-volume, scratch kitchen.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing team members.
- Experience with inventory management, food costing, purchasing, and kitchen operations.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and high-performing kitchen.
