Position Summary
Drives a food service truck to deliver and pick up food/supplies/equipment to and from the schools throughout the district. Receives vendor deliveries delivered to warehouse. Stocks as well as ‘pulls’ food and supplies as requested.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Receives, stocks, restocks and stores daily school food and supply orders received from central kitchen and warehouse.

Pulls daily stock for central kitchen and satellite operations, loads delivery trucks and drives deliveries via truck to satellite locations completes daily runs as necessary including processing of returns and restocks for the following days. Delivers cash receipts from satellites to the food service office and preforms pickup and delivery of daily school mail.

Collect, load and unload food/paper supplies with and without assistance.

Follows procedures involved in the receiving, storing and rotating various food/paper supplies.

Detect truck driving and operating problems and report to transportation mechanics.

Display the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel and outside agencies associated with the school.

Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming and an effective work ethic.

Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend any required meetings.

Adhere to federal statutes and regulations, state and local health agency requirements, state board of education rules and regulations, board of education policies and procedures and contractual obligations.

Preform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the director of food services or designee, and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.

Use computers and/or electronic equipment to fulfill job functions.

Custodial Duties: Cleaning floor and bathrooms in Central Kitchen on a daily basis.

Removal of Central Kitchen trash and recyclables daily.

Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.

Education: This position requires a high school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.).
Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations: Requires valid Michigan Drivers License and a valid State of Michigan Chauffeur’s Licensure. Must meet DOT driving standards.
Experience:

This position requires one to three months of related experience in food service and/or safe food handling practices
Knowledge:
-
Knowledge of general math to count inventory and stock, required.

Basic knowledge of methods, materials, tools, equipment, occupational hazards, and safety precautions related to food supplies, equipment, operating of motor vehicles and a hi-low, preferred.
Abilities:

Ability to read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, required

Ability to write simple correspondence, required

Ability to handle cash and complete records requiring basic math skills, required

Ability to successfully complete USDA Professional Development requirements, required.

Ability to successfully complete physical demands tests, DOT like physical and drug tests, required

Testing:
Tests will include but not limited to, a DOT like physical and drug screen which includes a push/pull test of 400lbs and a lift test up to 50lbs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally push, pull, move up to 400 pounds. The employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, and ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration when driving the Food Service Trucks. The employee must be able to deal with extreme hot/cold temperatures and work in an environment that is very loud.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
