Ideal candidates have previous experience in a school environment and hold current Connecticut teaching certification in Special Education (note: New York certifications cannot be accepted for this role).
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut Special Education Teacher certification (mandatory)
- Demonstrated experience working as a Special Education Teacher in a school setting
- Background in co-taught or inclusive classrooms strongly preferred
- In-depth understanding of IEP processes and current special education practices
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Partner with a general education teacher to instruct and support a diverse classroom of 3rd grade students
- Implement IEP accommodations, modifications, and specialized instructional strategies
- Collect data and monitor student progress toward academic and behavioral goals
- Foster an inclusive learning environment and advocate for students’ individual needs
- Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and ongoing professional development
